Description
18 mm Mounted CryoLoops with 20 micron diameter nylon. Nylon loops are staked to hollow, stainless steel MicroTubes™ that are used to mount, freeze, and secure the crystal during cryocrystallographic procedures and X-ray data collection. The MicroTube on the 18 mm Mounted CryoLoops is 18 mm in length and ready to insert into CrystalCap Magnetic and CrystalCap HT. The 20 micron diameter nylon loops show minimal diffraction, are thin for fast cryo cooling of the crystal, strong, and aerodynamic.
For use with CrystalCap, CrystalCap ALS, CrystalCap ALS HT and CrystalCap SPINE HT systems. Not compatible with the CrystalCap Copper, CrystalCap Copper HT, or CrystalCap ALS HT.

- Protein specific additive for solubility and stability
Description
The NDSB are a group of zwitterionic compounds that can reduce aggregation and aid in refolding proteins found in inclusion bodies and bacterial expression systems.
Non detergent sulfobetaines have a sulfobetaine hydrophilic group and a short hydrophobic group that cannot aggregate to form micelles, therefore NDSB’s are not considered detergents. NDSB increase the extraction yield (up to 30%) of membrane, nuclear and cyto-skeletal associated proteins. The short hydrophobic groups combined with the charge neutralization of the sulfobetaine group results in higher yields of membrane proteins. NDSB have been used in refolding and renaturation of chemically and thermally denatured proteins.
Typical useful NDSB concentration in protein sample is 0.5-1.0 M.

We offer several ingredients for individual sale so that you can develop your own blends.
“VFT” casein
- “Vitamin-free” test casein (alcohol-extracted) is best suited for purified test diet formulas where fat or vitamin content needs to be precisely controlled
- The reduced levels of many vitamins in VFT casein make it the preferred protein source for many vitamin studies. Thus, the nickname “Vitamin-free” was given to the extracted casein many years ago
Vitamin mixes
- The common vitamin mixes shown below use sucrose or corn starch as a carrier
- Customized vitamin mixes may use cellulose if a non-nutritive carrier is necessary
- Vitamin mixes are formulated with a diet inclusion rate in mind. Using more or less than recommended could impair the health of your laboratory animal
- For those preparing their own diets, vitamin premixes are an efficient way to add vitamins to a diet
- Vitamin mixes should be stored at 4 degrees celsius or lower upon receipt. Storage at –20 degrees celsius is recommended if the mix will be used beyond 1 month
- Minimum order is 500 g for both stock and custom vitamin mixes
- Our available vitamin mixes are commonly used in diets, and are available from stock
- Vitamin mixes are shipped within a few days of order

Double/Bubble® Epoxy HR4-347 extra fast setting with a work time of 3 to 5 minutes. The preferred epoxy for cryocrystallography. Sold as a pack of 5. Hardman Double/Bubble Fast-Setting Epoxy is an extra fast setting, two part, room temperature curing epoxy adhesive. It has a convenient mix ratio, excellent cohesive strength and bonds to most substrates including metal, wood, concrete, ceramics and many plastics. The Double/Bubble package is a handy, dual-pouch, one-shot, job-size packaging concept. Fills gaps, will not shrink. Contains no solvents. Two part epoxy in a single, dual-pouch 3.5 gram packet.
To use:
1. Fold Double/Bubble packet
2. Cut or tear to open end
3. Squeeze out adhesive
4. Mix parts A and B together with supplied spatula

Vitamin adjusted diets

A few vitamin adjusted formulas are shown below. Please contact us for additional formulas of this nature or for more information about altering the vitamin profile of a diet, and please read below to learn more.
Most vitamin deficient diets use vitamin-free test casein (VFT casein) as the protein source. VFT casein is casein that has been extracted with denatured alcohol to reduce the fat content from about 1% to 0.1%. In the process the content of a number of vitamins (present at low or trace levels in casein) is further reduced, making this an ideal protein source for these types of diets. Envigo produces our own VFT in-house, and we also offer this as an ingredient for those mixing their own diets.
From this vitamin deficient base, various levels of vitamins can be added back. Many formulas adjust multiple vitamins, and other nutrients.
If use of an intact protein source is not advisable, an amino acid defined diet can be used.

Unopened product best if used within 24 months of receipt. Once opened, best if used within 6 months. To enhance the stability of remaining material after product is opened, gently purge the product with an inert gas such as nitrogen or argon, which will remove oxygen which can cause oxidation of the Monoolein, before sealing.
Solubility
Soluble in chloroform (50 mg/ml). Soluble in Hexane and can be crystallized from Hexane. In water, Monoolein tends to form a gel or emulsion.

Description
The Intelli-Plate 48-2 (Art Robbins 102-0002-00) is a 48 well sitting drop plate for optimization. The plate features 6 reagent wells along the y-axis (A-F) and 8 reagent wells along the x-axis (1-8). The reagent reservoir is typically filled with 200 µl and is capable of holding up to 500 µl. The optimization drop wells are arranged at the top of each well. The left sample drop well holds 4 µl or less while the elongated sample drop well holds 20 µl or less. Plates are made of polystyrene.
The plates can be sealed using Crystal Clear Sealing Film (HR3-609), 3 inch wide Crystal Clear Sealing Tape (HR4-506) or ClearSeal Film™ (HR4-521).
The height of the Intelli-Plate 48-2 is 0.560 inches.

Description
Ionic liquids have been found effective as additives in protein crystallization, with different ionic liquids used to increase crystallization rates and crystal size.1-4 The inclusion of ionic liquids in crystallization experiments has been reported to lead to less crystal polymorphism as well as less precipitation at higher precipitant concentrations.2,5 Ionic liquids have been used as additives to produce crystals in reagents that had previously not resulted in crystallization and results suggest ionic liquids may be applicable for the solubilization and crystallization of membrane proteins.2
Ionic liquids are organic salts with melting points below 100°Celsius. They are thermally stable, nonflammable and demonstrate very low vapor pressure. Ionic liquids are soluble in a variety of organic and inorganic reagents and can be highly water soluble. Ionic liquids can demonstrate a degree of localized structuring about each ion compared to materials composed of disassociated ions, setting them apart from salt solutions.5,6 Ionic liquids can participate in ionic, hydrophobic and hydrogen bond interactions. Ionic liquids are often chaotropic, composed of low symmetry ions with charge delocalization and weak intermolecular interactions.1 These organic salts generally consist of combinations of organic cations and either an organic or inorganic anion. Ionic liquids have been demonstrated to suppress protein aggregation and significantly increase protein folding yields.7,8 Ionic liquids have been reported to stabilize protein activity and structure.9-11 The inclusion of the ionic liquid 1-n-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate improved the thermal stability and solubility of integral membrane proteins for membrane proteomics study.12
Some ionic liquids, such as ethylammonium nitrate have water-like characteristics, including the capacity for hydrogen bonding and the promotion of micelle formation by some surfactants.13 Many ionic liquids are also organic acids and have ionic character in addition to the hydrophobic behavior, which makes them unique and useful solvents in protein chemistry.
Variation of the anion and the cation as well as the utilization of both soft (formate and acetate) and hard anions (nitrate) in the reagents provides an additional dimension for evaluating the effects on ionic liquids on the solubility and crystallization of proteins. The screen contains 24 water soluble ionic liquids that comprise different cation (ammonium, cholin, imidazolium, phosphonium, and pyridinium) and anion (bromide, chloride, formate, nitrate, acetate, phosphate, cyanamide, sulfate, fluoroborate, fluoroacetate, sulfonate, and tosylate) structures for a diverse PEG and Ionic Liquid formulation for use in the crystallization screening of biological macromolecules.
PEG/Ionic Liquid HT samples four different low molecular weight Polyethylene glycols (400, 1,000, 4,000, and 20,000) versus twenty four ionic liquids, encompassing a broad range of pH without an added buffer. PEG/Ionic Liquid HT is supplied in a 96 Deep Well block format and is compatible with robotic and multi-channel pipet liquid handling systems. PEG/Ionic Liquid HT is compatible with vapor diffusion, free interface diffusion, and microbatch crystallization methods. For research use only.

Description
The Cover Slide Vacuum Gadget™ allows one to pick up a single cover slide, invert the slide and gadget, rest the gadget on the bench so the slide rests as if on a pedestal, pipet the drop onto the slide, then use the gadget to place and release the slide onto the crystallization plate. The Gadget is a hand held vacuum bulb with a single Buna-N vacuum cup. Squeeze the bulb, press the vacuum cup to the slide, ease the squeeze on the bulb to create a vacuum and the slide is held in place at the end of the Gadget. When ready to position and place the slide give the Gadget a gentle squeeze to release the vacuum. Single bulb with 3/8″ (9.53 mm) diameter cup.

- Heat and cold resistant, recommended for temperatures from -70°C and 110°C
- Complimentary sealing paddle is included in each box
Description
ClearSeal Film fits all SBS format 96 well plates.
Minimal evaporation, minimal cross-well contamination, easy to handle, and optically clear. Single coated, 2 mil (0.05 mm), optically clear polyolefin film with pressure-sensitive silicone-based adhesive. Supplied as a 140 mm x 78 mm film with white polyester release liner (backing). Actual seal area after end tabs removed is 116 x 78 mm Seals well to polypropylene, polystyrene, and polycarbonate plates. Compatible with aqueous and organic solvents. Suitable for use between -70 and 110°C. For best seal, the plate must be sealed with the Film Sealing Paddle HR4-513. ClearSeal Film has a limited shelf life. Must be used before expiration date printed on box.
Each pack of film (HR4-521) includes one free Film Sealing Paddle (available separately as HR4-413). HR4-413 Film Sealing Paddle, 3 7/8″ x 2 15/16″, polyethylene, white. 5 paddles per pack. An alternative to the plate roller or brayer for pressing films to assure a secure uniform seal around all wells on 96-well, 384-well, and 1536-well plates. These paddles are especially recommended for sealing films on raised-rim plates because they fit within the rim of the plate.
Store ClearSeal Film at 20°C +/- 10 degrees at 50% RH +/- 10%.
Helpful Tips
- Sufficient pressure must be applied to activate the silicone adhesive
- Multiple swipes of the sealing paddle in both directions is highly recommended
- A 10 minute or greater wait period before using for thermal cycling increases the film-to-plate bond

Description
The NDSB are a group of zwitterionic compounds that can reduce aggregation and aid in refolding proteins found in inclusion bodies and bacterial expression systems.
Non detergent sulfobetaines have a sulfobetaine hydrophilic group and a short hydrophobic group that cannot aggregate to form micelles, therefore NDSB’s are not considered detergents. NDSB increase the extraction yield (up to 30%) of membrane, nuclear and cyto-skeletal associated proteins. The short hydrophobic groups combined with the charge neutralization of the sulfobetaine group results in higher yields of membrane proteins. NDSB have been used in refolding and renaturation of chemically and thermally denatured proteins.
Typical useful NDSB concentration in protein sample is 0.5-1.0 M.
